Messenger Lists (formerly Recurring Notifications) is a feature that allows businesses to send multiple messages to customers who have opted in, even beyond the usual 24-hour messaging window. This includes promotional messages, helping businesses stay connected with their audience over time and fostering customer relationships that can lead to increased sales.
With average opt-in rates of 50%, Messenger Lists are designed to accelerate buying journeys and deliver results throughout the sales funnel.
Messenger Lists give customers control over their notification preferences, including frequency, while helping marketers address challenges like declining email engagement and ad performance.
Using Messenger Lists to send regular notifications helps keep customers engaged, updating them on products they’re interested in. It’s a powerful way to nurture relationships, stay top-of-mind, and showcase the value your business offers. Your contacts can easily opt out of receiving notifications at any time.

Best Practices #
To provide a high-quality user experience, your business should send relevant and valuable messages by following these guidelines:
- Clear Opt-In Request: When requesting opt-ins, ensure that the title and image clearly describe the types of Recurring Notifications users can expect to receive, such as order updates, product recommendations, or special offers.
- Specify Different Notification Types: If sending more than one opt-in request to a user, each request should clearly state the specific types of Recurring Notifications the user will receive.
Limitations #
- Avoid Spamming: Do not use Messenger Lists or opt-in requests to spam users. This includes sending duplicate opt-in requests too frequently to the same user.
- No Rewards for Opt-In: Do not offer rewards in exchange for opting into Messenger Lists. This applies to both tangible rewards (e.g., coupons, discounts, merchandise) and intangible rewards (e.g., points, cashback, incentives).
- Opt-In Frequency: You can send up to 10 opt-in requests per user within a 7-day period, with a sub-limit of 5 opt-in requests per user in a single day.
