ChitChatbot allows you to restrict access to your bot so that only account admins can interact with it. This is known as Development Mode and is ideal when you want to build, test, or temporarily deactivate your bot without exposing it to customers or clients.
Enabling Development Mode
- Navigate to:
Settings → General → Development - Toggle the Development Mode option to ON.
- Click Save.

Once enabled, your bot will only respond to account admins. Non-admins will not be able to interact with the bot.
Troubleshooting: Bot Not Responding to Admins
If you find that the bot isn’t responding to an admin while Development Mode is active, it’s likely because the admin has not yet opted-in or previewed any bot flow.
✅ How to Fix:
- Temporarily disable Development Mode.
- Have the admin preview any flow in the bot. This will trigger a confirmation message in the selected channel, confirming the admin’s access.
- Once done, you can re-enable Development Mode and continue building your bot in isolation.
After this setup, the bot will be accessible only to admins for testing and development purposes, ensuring your work remains private.
