Where to setup comments automation #
- Go to Tools & Automation
- Click Facebook Comments Automation
- Click Add
- Add a name – Ideally something relevant to the automation you plan to create.
After clicking, you’ll be presented with fields to configure your new rule.
Select the scope of automation:
“All Posts”: Recommended for broad coverage across your content.
“Specific Post”: Use for targeted automation on individual posts.
For “All Posts”, it is recommended to update the “Reply to” setting:
Change from “All Comments” to “Comments That Contain”.
This ensures your automated replies are triggered only when comments include specific keywords or phrases, offering more precision and relevance.
By using “Comments That Contain” with “All Posts”, you maintain flexibility while avoiding irrelevant or unnecessary responses.
Private Replies Configuration #
Your private reply is the message sent directly to a user’s inbox after they comment. You have two options for setting up this reply:
- Text: A simple plain-text response.
- Flow: A more interactive and dynamic reply option.
Recommendation: Create a dedicated flow specifically for this comment automation. Sending users to a flow allows you to:
- Capture their contact information.
- Engage with them in a more interactive and personalized way.
- Provide a better user experience compared to a basic text response.
Using flows ensures a professional and meaningful interaction with your audience.
Public Reply Configuration #
You can create a public reply, which sends a response as a comment visible to the user and others. Here’s how you can configure it:
- Text Reply:
- Create up to 10 variations for your response (e.g., “Message sent to your inbox,” “Thanks!” or “Check your messages! 😊”).
- These variations add variety and make your replies feel more natural.
- Flow Reply:
- Select a flow that will be sent publicly.
- No Public Reply:
- Opt to skip sending a public reply altogether if it’s not needed.
Choose the option that best fits your engagement strategy to maintain flexibility and relevance in your interactions. Most users will find a “Text” public replies are the most widely used.
More Options Configuration #
You can access additional settings through the “More Options” link, which displays various on/off toggles. These settings allow you to customize how and when your replies are sent. Here’s what you can configure:
- Reply to New Contacts Only: Choose to reply only to users who are new contacts.
- Reply Once Per User Per Post: Ensure each user receives only one reply per post.
- Like the User’s Comment: Automatically like the user’s comment along with the reply.
- Reply to Previous Commenters: Option to reply to users who have commented on your past posts.
- Do Not Reply to Replies: Skip responding to users’ replies to comments, focusing on the initial comment instead.
- Set a Response Time: Choose how soon to reply, with options like:
- Immediately
- XX seconds
- XX minutes
- XX hours
- Random (within 3 minutes)
Tip: If you notice some public replies aren’t being sent, switching to “Reply After Random (within 3 minutes)” may resolve the issue. This setting helps prevent delays and ensures your replies go through.
